If you wish to start training for the part I exam there is a one
off fee of £150 payable either at our home visit with you or at a
career day held for interested persons. Upon payment a driving instructor
will be allocated to you as your mentor to guide you through the part
I and subsequent exams. You will be supplied with a comprehensive
list of the part I questions together with the answers; you will be
expected to purchase the list of books itemised in this web site for
your personal study. You can contact the instructor with any questions
or problems you may have during this time.
It is recommended that during your study and/or part II training that
you spend a few hours sitting in with an instructor during real driving
lessons so that you experience the realities of the job. This should
include some weekend, evening and unsocial hours as this will be called
for when you eventually go on the road with pupils. You will pay the
instructor a fee of £20 per two hour session as the pupil will receive
a reduction on their lesson fee as compensation.
The fee for part II training is £75 per two hour training session
in your own car. You will need as many lessons as required to bring
you up to the required standard for the test. Please note every candidate
is different so there is no set number of lessons. If you require
the use of a suitable car for part two training there will be an additional
charge of £10 to cover fuel etc used during the lessons. A suitable
car may also be hired on the day of the part II exam.
The fee for the part III training is £75 per two hour session this
fee includes the use of a suitable dual controlled car. Like the part
II training there is no set number of hours to gain the necessary
competence. However it is unlikely that you will be up to the required
standard with less than 40+ hours training. Many candidates need much
more training hours than this to gain the necessary confidence. Failure
is usually directly related to a lack of training with candidates
attempting to cut costs.
Remember you are training for a new career and either taking on a
franchise when qualified or setting up your own driving school business.
All businesses have set up expenses and extensive investment of time
and money.
Anyone who has gained their parts I & II exams may apply for
a PDI licence before taking the part III exam. This allows them to
train learner drivers and charge for their time. This may give the
trainee instructor valuable experience for the part III exam but it
is not essential before taking this exam.
At times we will be able to offer trainees with parts I&II qualifications
instructor positions and provide them with a dual
control car and pupils etc. Further details about
this are available separately by contacting us at
